Serving  Women In Our Community

Who We Serve

How vital are women to the global economy? So important that, according to UN Women, if female participation in the global workforce were boosted by just 1%, it could increase GDP by $28 trillion in 2025. Cultural norms have contributed to the barriers women face in obtaining freedom. They are routinely excluded from decision-making processes, and do not always have access to education or job opportunities. This causes them to be more vulnerable to violence, sexual assault and abuse.

Marginalization is more than just poverty; it's a systemic form of oppression that affects many aspects of life for women. My Half Kitchen seeks to directly change this narrative by providing a safe space for healing and hope, through dignified work. The kitchen equips, empowers and employs women so that they may embrace their value and worth. Bakery items are made by local women who have faced obstacles to employment due to exploitation, trauma or hardship. These items are then sold at My Half Coffee Shop in Wheaton, IL.

  • Equip

Equipping women brings hope and help them overcome cultural barriers. We equip women with the skills and training needed to help them contribute towards society.

  • Empower

We not only provide women with the tools needed for exceptional work performance, we provide a safe space for them to recognize their voice and make better informed decisions for them and their loved ones.

  • Employ

By ensuring women have reliable employment, we create opportunities that they otherwise would not have been able to realize. Securing a stable income provides more than a paycheck, it provides a pathway towards life transformation.
